Star Shepherd

Personal project combining procedural nebula creation, procedural materials and sculpted concept entity.

"Deep in the vast, interstellar cosmos exist enchanting domains; regions where gargantuan molecular clouds form the conditions for an extraordinary precursor event: the birth of a star. Not much is known for certain about these events, but the ancient codices shine light on some of the myths that surround these turbulent embryos. It is told that amidst these nurseries roam entities as old as time itself, justly named as the Shepherds. In their early phases the newborn protostars are vulnerable to many chaotic forces inside their birthplace. Nurturing and caring, the Shepherds look over the juvenile celestial bodies and keep them from collapsing before their time, carefully steering them towards hydrostatic equilibrium. After eons of tending, when the stars finally begin to fuse hydrogen in their core, the Shepherds gently guide the fledlings out of the clouds on their journey into the void. Due to the turbulent nature of the clouds, these custodians spend their entire existence inside the nurseries, never departing from their archaic duty. Eventually, as the universe grows colder and stars cease to take form, these mythical gardens and their sacred caretakers will fade away, spelling the end of the Stelliferous Era."
